I have just returned from a week in Stellenbosch, participating as faculty in the 2024 Global Scholars Academy of the Harvard Institute for global Law and Policy, co-hosted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Stellenbosch. It was an intense but immensely satisfying event. There were plenty of fruitful interactions with other Faculty and, more importantly, the opportunity to engage with the work of an array of promising young legal scholars. In addition to participating in the Academy’s flagship writing workshops, I had the pleasure of teaching in a stream entitled “Mapping the world: Legal, historical and racial geographies” with colleagues from Tilburg Law School and SOAS University of London. I am grateful to the organisers for the invitation, the opportunity and some top notch social events.
