On Monday 26 October 2026, I gave a talk entitled “Towards a Right to the City? Urban space, urban infrastructure and city life in human rights law” at the University of Amsterdam’s Centre for Urban Studies. Moderated by Doutje Lettinga, who is the City of Amsterdam’s Chief Science Officer and Chair in Urban Dynamics of Rights and Justice at the University of Amsterdam, the talk considered different ways in which interests associated with the right to the city are beginning to find legal expression in international human rights law and domestic human rights systems.
