It was an honour to be invited to present an online talk for the EU-funded EVICT project based at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. The project investigates the potential of the right to housing in providing protection against evictions, in various contexts globally. The project, which also hosts the Scientific Network on Eviction and Housing Research, of which I am a member, hosts monthly talks about matters pertaining to housing rights and evictions. My talk focused on the gradual converging of housing and land rights jurisprudence in South African constitutional law (as culminated in the recent Adonisi judgment of the Cape High Court) and the potential of this for urban rights and inclusiveness. I am currently writing up the research for a future academic publication.
