The Oxford Compendium of National Legal Responses to Covid-19 was released on 27 April – as per the Oxford University Press website, the Compendium ” is a global academic collaboration mapping legal responses to Covid-19 in dozens of participating countries and territories. Each entry is structured identically and explores the role of public law, institutional adaptation, public health measures, social and labour policy, and human rights measures introduced or applied as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic”.
It has been a daunting honour to participate in this massive venture as South African country rapporteur, in which capacity I get to coordinate a great team (consisting Petronell Kruger, Khulekani Moyo, Paul Mudau and Amanda Spies) in producing and updating the South African chapter, parts I-IV of which is available now, with V and VI to follow soon.
The Compendium is produced by the Lex Atlas-Covid19 project and is coordinated by Jeff King and Octavio Ferraz. It is available as an Open Access publication. You can access the South African chapter, through our page on the Lex-Atlas Covid-19 website, here.
